Newsletter - On Linking Inclusion and Innovation
How can Albuquerque bring equity into our pursuit of innovation?
While organizations, institutions and collaboratives are investing in the right places on the surface to continue to grow our innovation economy (from building an innovation district Downtown to attracting more venture capital to the scene), we need to take a deeper look to see if Albuquerque is supporting business owners and leaders equitably. And if that's not happening, it's up to all of us to find solutions that link innovation and inclusion in our city.
As a city, Albuquerque has made major commitments to support our culture of innovation. But, are we being genuinely inclusive in our pursuit to support leaders and creators? John Freisinger of Innovate ABQ has been asking himself the same question. "If our goal is one of creating a culture of inclusive innovation, and we can admit that we have not yet achieved that goal, how do we take the first step?"
Through City Alive, Albuquerque leaders commit to collaborating, sharing ideas and taking action to better support the prosperity of homegrown businesses across our city. Innovate ABQ is one of our partners collaborating to create an environment where entrepreneurs turn good ideas into businesses that succeed.
