Albuquerque's Innovation District

Eight years ago an innovation district in Downtown Albuquerque was an idea. We had taken a trip to Florida to observe one in the wild and had some concept sketches. But the vision to create a compact, accessible, and technically-wired corridor to support the growth of startups, entrepreneurs, and students was still a dream.

Today, that dream is an expanding reality. The area between Central and Lomas, Downtown and the University has been significantly transformed. From new mixed-use housing, office, and retail spaces (notably in the new Innovate ABQ and One Central sites), to an unprecedented co-location of UNM, CNM, and outreach offices for our national labs—a lot has changed.

The emerging story of Albuquerque's Innovation District shows what's possible when public, private, and philanthropic partners come together.

When we join forces, we are capable of transforming the fabric of our city to support local entrepreneurs as they pursue their dreams.

The stories below highlight a couple of the great supports available to entrepreneurs in the Innovation District.
